A pressure expansion vessel is one of the protective elements of closed central heating systems.
Principle and functions of a pressure expansion vessel:

compensation of changes in thermal expansion of water in heating systems without water loss

maintaining water pressure in heating systems at specified parameters

optimization of conditions for heat distribution without losses

automatic water replenishment in the heating system in case of losses due to minor leaks
Pressure expansion vessels can be used in all types of heating systems (if their technical construction parameters allow). Pressure expansion vessels are welded steel tanks whose internal space is divided by an elastic membrane into two parts: gas and water. The gas part above the membrane is equipped with a pressure regulation valve. The water part below is filled with water from the heating system. Proper pressure in the gas part stabilizes the pressure of the entire central heating system (as the system changes its volume, it maintains constant pressure). Before use, the overpressure must be set according to the operating instructions. Pressure expansion vessels are supplied standard filled with gas at equal pressure. During installation, the pressure value in the gas part must be adjusted to the needs of the heating system. Pressure expansion vessels can be operated in heating systems with working temperatures up to 100ºC.
In heating systems with expansion vessels, at least one safety valve, thermometer and pressure gauge must be used.
