The deflector is installed in the boiler with an auger feeder. It is suspended above the combustion chamber.
The deflector is a wear component of the boiler and, like the grate in conventional boilers, it wears out, which is why it needs to be replaced after some time. The service life of the deflector is significantly shortened when the air blast from the fan is too large and too intense. If the deflector is damaged after a short period of operation, this is not a boiler defect but an obvious consequence of excessive air being blown into the boiler. Aggressive heat from the retort has caused damage to the deflector. In such a situation, the boiler does not operate as a heating device, but as a blacksmith's forge in which steel melts and the deflector can burn through.
