Description
PROSAT WEBER X – Domestic Hot Water Heat Pump with R290 Refrigerant
PROSAT WEBER X is a series of heat pumps designed for domestic hot water (DHW) preparation in residential buildings and small commercial facilities. The units utilize energy from ambient air to heat water stored in the integrated tank, providing an efficient solution for domestic hot water production.
The series includes models with tank capacities ranging from 100 to 300 litres, allowing the appropriate unit to be selected according to the required DHW storage volume. Depending on the model, the heat pump is equipped with an enamelled tank with a capacity of 100, 120, 150, 200 or 300 litres.
PROSAT WEBER X DHW Heat Pump with R290 Refrigerant
One of the key features of the PROSAT WEBER X series is the use of R290 (propane) as the refrigerant. According to the technical documentation, the unit is factory-charged with 150 g of R290 refrigerant. R290 is characterised by a very low global warming potential (GWP), specified in the documentation at approximately 1.
The heat pump is primarily designed for domestic hot water heating. The unit can also utilise the air passing through the heat pump for additional applications such as room cooling, air dehumidification and heat recovery. These functions are supplementary, while the primary purpose of the unit remains DHW preparation.
High DHW Temperature
The PROSAT WEBER X allows the water temperature to be set within a range of 15–75°C. The maximum water temperature specified in the documentation is 75°C. The unit is also equipped with an auxiliary electric heating element with a power output of 1.6 kW.
The combination of the heat pump and auxiliary electric heater enables operation in hybrid mode. In this mode, both the heat pump and the auxiliary electric heating element are used.
PROSAT WEBER X Operating Modes
The controller allows the user to select different operating modes. The documentation specifies, among others, heat pump operation, operation using only the electric heating element, and hybrid operation combining the heat pump with the electric heater.
- STAN – heat pump operating mode,
- HYB1 – heat pump and auxiliary electric heater operation,
- ELE – operation using the auxiliary electric heater.
The controller also provides a forced defrost function and a ventilation function. A sterilisation function is also available, using the heat pump and auxiliary electric heating element.
Automatic Sterilisation Function
The PROSAT WEBER X is equipped with a tank sterilisation function. The user settings allow the automatic sterilisation function to be enabled or disabled and the sterilisation interval to be configured. The default automatic sterilisation interval is 7 days, while the available setting range is from 1 to 20 days.
Wi-Fi Control and Smart Life Application
The PROSAT WEBER X features Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing the unit to be connected to the Smart Life application. Configuration can be performed using Smart Network or AP Network mode.
Once the unit has been successfully connected to the application, the heat pump control interface can be accessed and the required operating mode selected. The unit can also be shared with another application user, while its name and location can be modified in the settings.
Timer and Operating Schedule
The PROSAT WEBER X controller features an operating schedule function. Up to three time periods can be programmed, with each period having a defined start and end time.
The controller also includes a clock and weekly scheduler, allowing the unit's operation to be adapted to the planned domestic hot water usage schedule.
Energy-Efficient Domestic Hot Water Preparation
The heat pump extracts energy from the air and transfers it to the water stored in the tank. According to the manufacturer's documentation, the unit is designed as an efficient solution for DHW preparation, reducing electrical energy demand compared with direct water heating using an electric heating element.
Depending on the model, the COP at 7/6°C conditions ranges from 2.74 to 3.02. All models have an A+ energy efficiency class according to the data provided in the technical specification table.
Utilisation of Waste Heat
The PROSAT WEBER X design allows the unit to be used in rooms where warm waste air is available, such as utility rooms, boiler rooms, garages or other technical spaces.
The heat pump can simultaneously prepare DHW and affect the temperature and humidity of the air in the room. However, the manual specifies that cooling, dehumidification and heat recovery are supplementary functions and cannot be controlled with the same precision as the primary water heating function.
Compact Design and Different Tank Capacities
The PROSAT WEBER X series includes smaller models designed for tanks with capacities of 100, 120 and 150 litres, as well as larger 200 and 300 litre versions. The 100, 120 and 150 litre models are specified in the documentation as wall-mounted units, while the 200 and 300 litre versions are floor-standing models.
