Chimney draft limiter KA-RCK10 W2 made of acid-proof steel

The purpose of the draft regulator or thrust limiter is to reduce too much underpressure in the chimney ducts, which is connected with an inappropriate cross-section of the chimney duct or with variable atmospheric factors, eg strong wind.

Principle of operation

The Kominus draft regulator is mounted on a flue conduit with a chimney, above or below the flue. If the chimney draft is too large, the pendulum valve opens and the air flows from the boiler room to the chimney. The vacuum in the boiler remains thus constant and optimal combustion is obtained in this way. The knob at the regulator is used to regulate the vacuum at which the damper opens. Adjustment is carried out by changing the position of the weight placed under the knob, thereby shifting the center of gravity of the element so that the damper opening takes place at a given negative pressure. The draft regulator can be attached to the flue pipe and to the wire placed in the duct.

Assembly

Regulators can only be installed in flues, preferably in the exhaust pipe (fireplace, chimney). The draft regulator in the KA-RCK version (W2) is mounted to the pipe by means of a clamp with a band. In the first place, the pipe should be cut out, then the string regulator should be put on the next one and the band should be tightened on the pipe. The element can be used for pipes with diameters from 120 to 200 mm (fig. 3). The outline of the hole cut in the pipe should be located at a distance of 10 mm from the intake edge (Fig. 4).

Additional benefits are provided by the use of an explosion-proof flap, which opens in case of small explosions, which can sometimes occur in the boiler. In this way, short-term overpressure is easily released and thus prevents damage to the heating unit.
